Mass media simply is a section of the media specially designed to reach a large number of audience.for example:the population of the nation state.The term was cointed in the 1920s with the establishment of the nationwide radio networks magazines and newspapers.Whereas some forms of massmedia like books and manuscripts had already been avialable and also been used from centuries.

Electronic and print media include.Mass media includes Internet media(like message boards,blogs,podcasts,and vedio sharing)

Blogging has become a huge form of media, popular through the internet.

A blog is a website, maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.Podcast is a series of digital-media files distributed over theInternet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers.

Internet is a more interactive medium of mass media, and can be briefly described as "a network of networks".were introduced in Japan in 1979 but became a mass media only in 1998
when the first downloadable ringing tones were introduced in Finland.Soon most forms of media content were introduced on mobile phones, and today the total value of media consumed on mobile towers over that of internet content, and was worth over 31 billion dollars in 2007 (source Informa).

Book is a collection of sheets of paper, parchment or other material with a piece of text written on them, bound together along one edge within covers.A book produced in electronic format is known as an e-book.

A magazine is a periodical publication containing a variety of articles linked with various subjects to be dealth with generally financed by advertising and/or purchase by readers.

A newspaper is a publication containing news and information and advertising, usually printed on low-cost paper called newsprint.

'Film' encompasses motion pictures as individual projects, as well as the field in general. The name comes from the photographic film.Films are produced by recording people and objects with camaras or by the function of animationtechniques or special effects.

Mass media can be used for various purposes:
Advocacy, both for business and social concerns. This can include advertising, marketing, propaganda, public relations, and political communication. Entertainment, traditionally through performances of acting, music, and sports, along with light reading; since the late 20th century also through video and computer games.

More than a century ago,Oscar Wilde said,"Journalism is not readable and literature is not read."Lets put it modestly:Hopefully today both are equally readableand read with delight and pride.Lets hope for the best.
There is just a fine line between lierature and journalism.Both like phylosophy and history,help us to have better understanding of ourselves.they give artistic expression to human nature and social life.They have promise and capicity of inspiring thoughts and cordial relationship and are attuned to genuine prpose and cler forward planning.They persuade into adopting morality and suitability.The materials are refreshing and more importantly enlighting.Being the life blood of the society,they sincerely instruct to live a self respecting and gloriouslife.In essence they communicate in favour of humanity.Their crowning achievements are written of pure creative inclination.They offer insight into human characterand appease the reader's curiousity them by the weight of evidences,not by the loudness of voice.Having confident faith in future,they never leave the issue hanging in the balance.There natural business is to proceed with dignity and responsibility.

Literature

There has been wide spectrum of opinions on literature and jornalism.Literature is a most so that no exact defination exits.One of its widely used meaning is that it is something printed or write down.Every thing poured out in a black and white is not a literature. Fundamentally, it needs to have general interests of people.It is a piece of language expressed orally or in writting that offers the writer's feeling, thoughts,impressions etc.on rhe subhect aiming at permanence.In the specialised sense,it is concerned with indicidual response or the actuallity.

Goethe remarked,"The declime of literature indicares the decline of nation."
RJ Lees viewed that literature should encompass originality,craftmanship,moral consiousness,and psycological truth as Shakespeare wrote in 'Hamlet'-"It should hold mirror up to nature." Its function must be objective in that the speaker's own prejudices and sectarian ideas should not interfare with the truth.It picturizes an imaginative world and life and enriches conciousness of the readers who admire a work in terms of how it resembles actuality.It refines sensibility,cools down the battles of life and provides escape from grim and glommy reality.
Victor Hugo renarked,"There's nothing wrong in literature".But it holds people's good sense ,ideal influences,rime honoured culture in high gear.

Homer's epics plays,poetry of kalidas, Deckota etc.have enourmorous universal appeals and appreciation.Immortal literacy works are ever lasting source of energy and enthusiasm.
